Hunting- sport or cruelty???
My girlfriends step dad and his entire side of the family love to hunt.
and i was wondering what other people's opinion on this topic was. i mean don't you find it pointless. to kill something that doesn't even know it is being hunted. there is a quote i found somewhere one time and it was from Paul Rodriguez. he said "Hunting is not a sport. In a sport both teams know that they are playing." and i think that sums up everything right there. i don't like hunting nor will i ever. i think it is pointless to kill something that is not even putting up a challenge. my girlfriends step dad has like 3 deer heads in his front room and just recently killed a 2 year old fox and is having it mounted. It might just be me but i sure wouldn't have it in me to kill something as adorable as a 2 year old fox. , call me an animal lover if you will, i am not too fond of dogs, but i would never hunt them. but please post your opinions.

It's too late for me to post a long discussion but I will say this:
I grew up in an area where hunting was very common. However, we also ate whatever it was we hunted. I have no problem with hunting as long as it's not killing for killing's sake.

whether it is for sport or for the meat, humans need to keep hunting animals to keep the fear of humans alive in the animal kingdom.
The reason why we have problems with encounters with wild animals is because we don't hunt them as much anymore. They are no longer afraid of us. Then we wonder why we have problems with deer, moose, coyotes, etc in our suburban areas.

i don't think that's the problem. what i think is that we have destroyed their natural habitat for our own uses, and therefore the animals are entering what's left of their land, which is now ours.
ain't that a run-on....
anyway, hunting for food is the only morally correct type of hunting, imo. if you can get food without killing the animal yourself, i believe it's ok.
:P

dude the reason we have animal problems is because humans are over populating this world not because we dont hunt them enough.
and my girl friends step dad does eat the meat from the animals (except for foxes, and coyotes) but my main problem is why does he have to show them off. big deal he killed an animal that doesnt even know it is being hunted. we use lures to make them think that they are doing something that is natural to them like setting out dummies, or spraying certain smells everywhere. the deer is going about its daily business and all of a sudden boom and there goes a bullet right into his heart. and now he is dead for doing what comes natural to him. just like when people murder people. someone going about their daily business and next thing they know they are dead. see the similarities.

I gotta agree with Ash, on that. If it's for sport it's cruel. If it's for food, it's fine.

If your using everything on the animal you kill and not wasting it, then thats cool with me.
However, if your hunting for sport, your a lousy b*****d in my eyes.

If you believe that all hunting is cruel then you must believe that fishing is much worse. At least the idea is to kill a whitetail deer with one shot to make a clean humane kill instead of hooking the deer and pulling it underwater to suffocate it to death the way a fish would die.
Why are so many people vocal about saving Bambi's mom - but nobody cares about fish, poisoning rats or killing c0ckroaches ... Maybe it takes a "cute" animal for people to react.
... 'scuse me, I forgot to turn on the bug zapper ...

It's sport. We eat what we kill. End of story. Lock this sucker before some PETA jerk starts a flame war.

What it SHOULD stand for is "People Eating Tasty Animals" and it should be a barbique club.
What it DOES stand for is "Pansies Elude The All-Time-Truth"

LMAO
well killing animals like deer and wolfs and stuff to me is not a big deal. Cause i mean.. what do animals do. eat sleep and have babaies . and more babies... i doubt we will ever kill off enough for a species to go extinct.
